SCIENCE

FROM SCIENTIFIC CURIOSITY, TO CONFIDENCE

At Fusion Learn, we believe that science is not just a subject—it's a way of understanding the world. From exploring how plants grow to understanding chemical reactions and forces in motion, science helps young people become curious thinkers, problem solvers, and informed citizens.

Our science tuition is designed to spark interest, build confidence, and close learning gaps through a hands-on, personalised approach. Whether your learner is thriving in science or finding it a challenge, we provide structured support from Key Stage 2 through Key Stage 4, including full preparation for GCSE Combined and Triple Science pathways. We also support learners in alternative settings or those working outside of mainstream education.

Children in Science Class

Key Stage 2

At Key Stage 2, science is all about inquiry, observation, and exploration. Our support focuses on building essential knowledge while helping children engage with the subject in a practical and enjoyable way.

We offer:

  • Core Curriculum Support: Covering all key areas including plants, animals (including humans), rocks, light, sound, electricity, forces, materials, and habitats.

  • Scientific Enquiry Skills: Encouraging learners to ask questions, make predictions, carry out investigations, and interpret results.

  • Cross-Curricular Links: Reinforcing literacy and numeracy through science experiments, report writing, and data interpretation.

  • Vocabulary Development: Teaching scientific terminology in a way that's accessible and age-appropriate.

  • Catch-Up Support: Ideal for learners with gaps due to SEND, absence, or interrupted schooling.

Every KS2 learner receives a tailored learning plan designed to match the National Curriculum while catering to their interests and level of confidence.

Key Stage 3

KS3 is a pivotal stage for developing scientific knowledge and preparing for the demands of GCSE. At this level, we help students consolidate core concepts while building the confidence to think critically and work independently.

Our KS3 science support includes:

  • Biology, Chemistry, and Physics Foundations: Covering topics such as cells, ecosystems, particles, acids and alkalis, energy, forces, magnetism, and space.

  • Practical Science Skills: Teaching how to plan and carry out experiments, record results, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Scientific Literacy: Helping learners understand scientific texts, use subject-specific vocabulary, and explain concepts clearly in writing.

  • Problem Solving and Application: Supporting students in applying knowledge to unfamiliar situations, as required in exam-style questions.

  • Targeted Intervention: For learners who are underperforming, disengaged, or require support to reach age-related expectations.

We also support students in pupil referral units, home education, or other non-mainstream settings with a flexible, nurturing approach.

Key Stage 4

Science at GCSE level is often a significant source of pressure for students. Whether they’re studying Combined Science (Double Award) or Separate Sciences (Triple Award: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics), our support helps them manage the workload, grasp complex ideas, and prepare confidently for exams.

Our GCSE science tuition includes:

  • Comprehensive Curriculum Coverage: Covering all exam board specifications (AQA, Edexcel, OCR) for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • Tier-Specific Support: Tailoring lessons to suit Foundation or Higher Tier entries, ensuring learners are working at the appropriate level.

  • Exam Techniques and Practice: Teaching command words, structured response writing, and how to interpret scientific data and graphs.

  • Practical and Required Experiments: Reinforcing understanding of required practicals and how to discuss methods, results, and evaluations.

  • Literacy in Science: Supporting the development of extended answers, scientific explanations, and evaluation skills.

  • Alternative Provision Focus: Our tutors are experienced in supporting students in non-mainstream settings, providing a calm, low-pressure environment to build science confidence.
