Our Key Stage 2 support is focused on building strong academic foundations and nurturing a love for learning during these important early school years. As students develop core skills in English, Maths, and Science, we provide structured, engaging tuition that helps them grasp key concepts, improve their confidence, and make steady progress at their own pace. Our support is tailored to meet each child’s needs—whether they’re catching up, reinforcing classroom learning, or stretching their abilities. Through clear explanations, hands-on activities, and regular encouragement, we help learners strengthen essential skills like reading comprehension, number fluency, writing structure, and scientific thinking. Just as importantly, we focus on building a positive learning experience, helping children to feel confident, motivated, and ready to take on new challenges as they prepare for the transition to Key Stage 3

Key Stage 2

ENGLISH

Our English tuition at Key Stage 2 focuses on developing the core literacy skills children need to succeed across the curriculum.

We support students with:

Phonics and early reading: For those who need support with decoding and blending sounds
Reading comprehension: Understanding different types of texts, identifying key points, and making inferences
Spelling and vocabulary building: Improving word recognition and usage through fun, engaging activities
Handwriting and sentence structure: Helping students write clearly and with purpose
Creative writing: Encouraging imagination while teaching how to plan and structure written work
Speaking and listening: Building verbal communication skills and confidence in expressing ideas

We use multisensory techniques, visual prompts, and structured scaffolding to support children with dyslexia or literacy difficulties.

MATHS

In Key Stage 2 Maths, our focus is on helping students understand key concepts, build number fluency, and develop confidence with problem-solving.

We cover:

Basic number skills: Strengthening addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Place value and number sense: Understanding how numbers work and relate to each other
Fractions, decimals, and percentages: Introducing concepts in manageable steps
Time, money, and measurement: Using real-life examples to help learners see relevance and purpose
Worded problems and reasoning: Helping students break down and solve multi-step questions
Times tables practice: Building speed and accuracy through low-pressure repetition

Tutors use concrete resources (like counters and number lines) and visual aids to make abstract concepts easier to grasp, especially for learners with dyscalculia or low maths confidence.

Science

In Key Stage 2 Science, our focus is on helping students develop a strong understanding of key scientific ideas, build curiosity, and gain confidence with practical enquiry and explanation.

We cover:

Scientific knowledge and concepts: Exploring topics like animals, plants, materials, forces, light, sound, and electricity
Observation and enquiry skills: Encouraging learners to ask questions, make predictions, and carry out simple investigations

Emotional Support and Wellbeing

At Fusion Learn, we understand that emotional wellbeing is key to academic progress. Many of our learners have experienced anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, or disrupted education.

Offer mentoring-style support to help with confidence, motivation, and emotional regulation
