ACCESSIBLE ENGLISH, EXCEPTIONAL OUTCOMES
At Fusion Learn, we believe English is more than just reading and writing—it's about finding your voice, developing critical thinking, and gaining the communication skills essential for life, study, and work. Our personalised English tuition helps learners at every level overcome barriers, fill gaps, and rebuild confidence in their abilities.
We offer targeted, compassionate support from Key Stage 2 through Key Stage 4, as well as specialist tuition in Functional Skills English, from Entry Level 1 up to Level 2. Whether a learner is in mainstream education, outside of school, or on an alternative learning path, Fusion Learn delivers flexible, meaningful tuition tailored to their unique journey.

Key Stage 2
At Key Stage 2, we lay the foundations for fluent reading, confident writing, and effective communication. Many learners at this stage face challenges such as reading delays, low confidence, or difficulties with spelling and grammar.
Our tutors support them with:
-
Reading Fluency and Comprehension: Developing decoding strategies, expression, and the ability to understand and discuss texts—from fiction and poetry to non-fiction.
-
Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar (SPaG): Building sentence structure, accurate punctuation, and age-appropriate grammar through engaging activities.
-
Writing for Purpose: Supporting learners to plan, structure, and edit writing across genres including narratives, instructions, reports, and persuasive texts.
-
SATs Preparation: For Year 6 pupils, we provide guided practice and confidence-building for both reading and SPaG components of the KS2 assessments.
-
Targeted Interventions: Designed to close learning gaps caused by absence, learning difficulties, or changes in schooling.
Every KS2 learner receives a personalised plan that aligns with the National Curriculum and supports their individual learning goals.
Key Stage 3
Key Stage 3 is a crucial period for developing advanced reading and writing skills. At this stage, our tutors focus on deepening understanding and encouraging learners to engage with texts critically and creatively.
We provide:
-
Reading Analysis: Exploring themes, language, and structure in a range of texts including Shakespeare, modern fiction, poetry, and non-fiction.
-
Advanced Writing Skills: Developing clarity, coherence, and flair across various forms—creative writing, essays, reviews, letters, and discursive pieces.
-
Vocabulary and Language Development: Expanding students’ command of language and boosting their confidence in using it effectively.
-
Literary Appreciation: Encouraging students to engage with texts on a personal and analytical level, supporting emotional and academic growth.
-
Bridging Gaps: Especially for learners working below age-related expectations, recently out of school, or with SEND requirements.
Our support helps students transition smoothly into GCSE-level study, and is ideal for learners in both mainstream and alternative settings.
Key Stage 4
GCSE English is a critical qualification for accessing further education and employment. Whether working towards GCSE English Language, GCSE English Literature, or both, our tutors provide clear, structured tuition that’s tailored to the learner’s needs and exam board.
Our support includes:
-
Exam Board Alignment: We tailor sessions to match the specification (AQA, Edexcel, OCR), including key texts and assessment formats.
-
Textual Analysis and Essay Skills: For Literature, we guide students through set texts, including Shakespeare, 19th-century novels, modern drama, and poetry.
-
Language Paper Strategies: For English Language, we focus on reading unseen texts, evaluating language use, and mastering writing tasks like articles, narratives, and speeches.
-
Revision and Exam Techniques: Including time management, planning responses, and how to use quotations effectively.
-
Support for Non-Traditional Learners: We offer patient, empathetic teaching for learners with anxiety, attendance issues, or alternative education needs.
